Calendar Girls

The compelling true story of a group of Women’s Institute members raising money for charity by staring in a naked calendar is taking to the stage this year, following the success of the hit movie, Calendar Girls, Tim Firth has adapted the script he wrote for the movie and had produced a play. The play is based entirely on the film and many of the comic scenes from the film transfer with great effect to the stage. The play premiers at Chichester Festival and continued on to a successful tour of the country.

It is now set for production in Noel Coward Theatre from Saturday 11th April 2009 to Saturday 27th June 2009 and tickets will be selling fast for this new British classic. The story involves a group of Women’s Institute ladies who are moved to raise money for Leukaemia research after one of the women loses her husband to cancer. Their aspirations for success of the calendar were minimal and the play documents the heights of fame that the controversial calendar rocketed these Yorkshire Women’s Institute members to. The play has created much of the same buzz as the film making the production a performance not to be missed.
