Grease

Grease has been a successful show in both New York’s Broadway and London’s West End for over thirty years. The musical opened in a theatre in Chicago in 1971 and created such interest that within a year it was playing in Broadway.

The show quickly began to generate interest within the UK and as such opened in the West End in 1973 with Richard Gere starring as the male lead, Danny. The success of the musical led to interest for a film, the film version was made in 1978 and has remained a top selling blockbuster ever since. Both the musical and the film are considered pop culture classics and are enjoyed by audiences of all ages.

The musical includes songs such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightening, Born to Hand Jive and Beauty School Dropout that have become massive hits and creates a greater atmosphere during the shows as audiences know the words to sing along. Piccadilly Theatre is the home for this year’s performance of Grease. The show has been as successful as all previous performances and lives up to the title of being one of Broadway’s and the West End’s longest running shows. Grease is a truly classic musical experience.
