Phantom of the Opera

The musical Phantom of the Opera was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and was first performed on the West End in 1986. The musical is based on a French novel called Le Fantome de L’Opera by Gaston Leroux. The musical is massively successful and claims the title of the longest running musical on Broadway. It is a classic that has continually impressed audiences throughout its 9,000 performances.

The songs in the musical have become as famous as the musical itself as “The Phantom of the Opera” and “The music of the night” have become a household favourite which has helped in making the Phantom of the Opera the most financially successful musical and the highest grossing entertainment event in history. The musical is currently showing at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Haymarket where it is expended to run for many years to come. 

Phantom of the Opera has been performed internationally at destinations in Cape Town, Mexico, Spain, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia just to name a few. The success of the musical also led to a film production in 2004 which was produced by the writer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
